The main difference between a trilby and a homburg is that the latter has a brim of even width: the brim of this wonderful item narrows at the back, hence - despite the high-ish crown - I believe it should be described as a trilby. It bears no relationship to those dreary work-a-day objects worn by the male of the species, however - this is, as you can see, at the very least a jaunty addition to an outdoor outfit, at best a personal statement!

In generally good condition - no bald patches, the fabric is good - there are a couple of areas on the band which are water marked, and I'm not convinced it just ended as it appears to do - shouldn't there have been a bow, or something? Although, again, I see no sign that it has been damaged. Please look at the photos - I always try to show damage, partly because description makes it sound much worse than it looks!

There's lots of scope for playing with the brim, and for a vintage hat it's a good size, too - approximately 22 ins/56 cms in circumference, crown height of about 5 ins/13 cms, and widest part of brim 3 ins/9 cms. Warm and water resistant at least, it's both stylish and practical!
