This is not just a skirt, but a whole costume - and still with its original labels, brand new and never been worn! Dating from the late 40s, this is a delightful set in fresh, crisp cotton in absolutely perfect condition!
The skirt is pocketless and has one-inch pleats all round from an inch-wide waistband. The top sits just on the waist and has little cap sleeves. It has one long, and one shorter wrap-strap, the fisrt goes through a hole in the back seam. Twin diagonal pleats run from the base of the straps to the shoulders, to give a nice, curvy outline.
The labels...well, this is the garment label for the skirt, identical to that in the jacket except the latter does not have the size (26). The paper tags are also similar: they show the different colourways (blue and purple, grey and yellow, pink and blue) in which the suit was available, and give the price for each bit (clearly, available separately). By my reckoning, this would set you back the pre-decimal equivalent of £1.95....about £70 in today's terms, allowing for inflation
The labels also give information on the size of the set: bust, 34 - 38, waist 24 - 28. This would make it a modern size 10-12.
